These uncommon dogs are medium to large and have dense curly hair that needs regular maintenance. They are water dogs bred to retrieve fowl from water and love to have a job. These dogs are a less common breed that needs dedicated owners who understand these stubborn high energy dogs. However, even with these energy requirements they are noted as good family dogs and easy to socialize. 

Greyhound

These dogs are known for looking like a deflated dog these guys are known for running fast and loving the chase. Do not be fooled by their racing though they are not super high energy dogs and enjoy going on runs but will also lounge around when the time calls for it. They are amazing family dogs and do great with socialization and training. These pups need an owner how likes going on two or more long runs a day and can give them the proper stimulation they need.

Giant Schnauzer 

These dogs are a large breed that need proper socialization and training, they are extremely loyal and love to play non-stop! These pups are known for their beards and need monthly trims and weekly brushing. These dogs are extremely protective and need a job to stay happy. They mostly end up in shelters or euthanized because of lack of socialization and training causing them to become overly protective and resource guarding. They need a family that is diligent on training and understand that this breed needs a job 24/7.

Portuguese Water Dog

These high energy highly trainable pups were bred to be versatile farm pups with a need to please and the want to be around people 24/7. These pups are often regarded as nanny dogs and love to be around families and children. They are high energy and will accomplish any task that you ask of them extremely willingly. these pups are often mistaken for poodles or doodles but are slightly smaller and more versatile with webbed feet and a water-resistant coat. 

American Boxer

Boxers are a common friendly breed with a short thin coat which needs minimal grooming although they do shed their light short coats make it easy to give them a good brushing biweekly and be good. These dogs are eager to please and amazing family dogs however, they do need proper socialization. These pups end up in shelters due to their drooling and lack of proper socialization as well as their energy levels. They need good training and socialization and lots of cuddles.

Standard Xoloitzcuintli

These dogs are known mostly in Mexico and are a bit odd looking. These dogs are extremely affectionate and love to be around people. They need proper socialization and are easy to train and eager to please. While these dogs look odd they are low shedding and extremely social dogs that would make amazing pets. These dogs are also medium to high energy and love exploring big yards. 

Soft-coated Wheaten Terrier

these pups are a medium to large breed that are extremely affectionate and eager to please and do not shed! While they do not shed they do need almost daily grooming to make sure their hair does not mat and monthly grooming. They are a medium energy dog and will play with you for hours but also need their naps. These pups are similar to other terriers and can be stubborn but will do well with some firm training, just remember they are sneaky and will push boundaries. These pups do well in families and often bond with young children. These pups are often abandoned or end up in shelters due to their grooming requirements and lack of training.
